The Top 3 Reasons Why A Person Doesn’t Go To Rehab

September 7th, 2011

Many families struggle with the idea of their loved one needing help but never accepting it. Some families who have a loved one addicted to drugs or alcohol simply sweep it under the carpet and pretend that it’s not actually happening. Some families feel all alone. In this blog, we are going to discuss the three main reasons a person struggling with alcohol or drug addiction refuses to enter into a drug rehab facility.

3) The 3rd reason a person never goes to rehab for a substance abuse is they don’t want their family to spend money. The cost of drug rehab is one of main excuses an addict or alcoholic will use to not go to treatment. The solution to this problem is already have the cost handled and when the addict or alcoholic asks, just let them know you have worked out arrangements for rehab and for them to not worry about it.

2) The 2nd reason why a person will not enter a substance abuse rehab center, is they don’t think they have a problem. This is the classic denial. In a situation like this you want to hire a professional intervention. An interventionist will bring the family together and educate everyone about enabling, addiction and treatment. This process is crucial so that everyone is on the same page when you do the actual intervention with the addict or alcoholic.

3) The number one reason why a person never goes to rehab is that they do not want to leave home or their family. This is the most common excuse. Many times they will agree to try outpatient counseling but you and I know this is not a real solution to an addiction problem that has been going on for years. The only type of treatment that is effective for drug or alcohol addiction is an inpatient treatment facility. The only thing you need to know in this situation is to just get the person there. Don’t have them commit to certain amount of time, instead just get the addicted individual to agree to checking out the facility and giving it a shot. Hopefully this helps and if you need further assistance feel free to contact our counselors today.

Drug Rehab Centers Provide Professional Addiction Treatment

December 13th, 2010

Drug rehab centers are in every state to help people overcome their drug addiction. These centers provide professional help to those suffering from addiction, something even the most well-meaning of families cannot do. You simply cannot tell a person to stop taking drugs, and they stop. The person using drugs may begin suffering from severe withdraw symptoms and if they can get out and buy some drugs, they will. The addict must be removed from all temptation and allowed to withdraw in a safe, secure environment with a medical staff to make sure there are no problems during the withdraw.

A drug rehab center more than offer a safe place for detoxification, they try to discover the underlying problem that started a person on the road to drug addiction, then treat the problem. These problems can range from stress to a mental illness, and a professional is needed to determine the real cause and design a program to alleviate these problems.

Last, no drug rehab would be complete without teaching a person coping skills so they can avoid taking drugs to deal with their problems. If a person always used drugs when they were nervous or stressed they would need to be taught healthy ways to deal with these feelings. No amount of love and concern a family has for a member suffering from addiction can replace these important parts of drug rehabilitation.

Why Are They Afraid Of Drug Rehab

October 21st, 2010

Those who are addicted to illegal drugs should not hesitate to seek help. If their friends and family can no longer convince them to stop their addiction, it would be very helpful if they go to a drug rehab instead. This is usually done by drug interventions.

Some drug users are afraid to go to a drug rehab thinking that the environment is somewhat similar to prison. They fear that they would be contained in a place where they can’t have the freedom to do whatever they want. Of course this is somewhat true. They can’t communicate with the people who set as the bad influence in their life. They can’t use any kind of illegal substance while inside the drug rehab facility even in small dosages. But after the program, they would have a new perspective and would realize that their life is not dependent on these drugs.

Other than that, they are also afraid that they would be judged especially by those who assist in the drug rehab programs. Contrary to what they know, there will be more people inside the rehab that could understand them better. They can be more open to their feelings so that they could vent out why they did drugs in the first place.

A drug rehab would not lock them away from the real world. Instead, it would help them grow and live a life that is not dependent on drugs or any kind of illegal substance for that matter.

Drug Interventions and Non 12 Step Rehab

September 17th, 2010

Are you searching online trying to locate a drug rehab that will work but getting confused with all of the different treatment options? Do you have a loved one who needs to get into treatment immediately? Many of the drug rehabilitation programs take so long to enroll an addicted individual into treatment. In a case like this, a drug intervention is necessary. Drug interventions help people who do not think they have a problem, realize why treatment is necessary. Common reasons people don’t enter into a rehab is they are scared of withdrawal. When a person is scared of withdrawal, then a detox is necessary.

Detox centers will help a person gently taper down from their drug of choice or alcohol so they do not feel any pain or uncomfortable symptoms. Many prescription drugs like anti-anxiety medications and prescription painkillers require a medical detox. Once a person has been properly detoxed than an effective treatment center is necessary.

Finding the right type of drug rehab is final step and the most important one. If the treatment program is no good, then the intervention and detox will be a waste. Investing in an effective drug rehab is vital. Drug and alcohol rehab programs that are best are ones that are long term. Stay away from outpatient centers because they have low success rates. Some of the best rehabs are ones that offer a non 12 step rehab approach. If you need help locating a drug rehab facility, drug intervention or detox, than call one of our counselors today.

We Found A Drug Treatment Program

August 20th, 2010

I wish I had seen this website years ago… would have probably saved my family and I years of agony searching for the “right” drug treatment rehab. My brother was a heroin addict for 8 years. We struggled month after month trying to help him in finding a detox program. And some months we gave up completely, subscribing to someone’s [bad] advice that it was “his life, and we should let him live it how he wants to live it.”

I finally realized that I was no longer dealing with my brother. He was long gone, and his personality replaced with a new identity controlled entirely by heroin. So “his life” wasn’t being lived the way “he wanted.” It was out of his hands and up to his family to bring him back.

He did out-patient, 30 Day, 28 Day, 12 Steps, Narcotics Anonymous, hospitalized Rapid Opiate Detox (which I would NOT recommend)… you name it, he did it. Eventually we realized that we needed something different, and after dozens of Google searches I discovered that “different” in the drug rehab field is anything non-12 Step (AKA: Alternative Drug Rehab.) I just didn’t buy into these programs that felt his addiction was incurable; that it was only “manageable” with addictive opiate drugs.

He did a long-term drug rehab alternative program tailor-made to his specific dependency. He was away for a good 3 or 4 months, which was hard but necessary. And now our family is complete again. But like I said earlier, if I had you guys helping me out I probably could have cut out weeks and months of searching.

Good luck and God bless to everyone out there searching. I hope you find answers.

Why Drug Intervention

July 19th, 2010

When do we step in to see that our loved ones, struggling with addiction to drugs and or alcohol, get the help they need? How long is “too long” to wait? And what if this person refuses to see they even have a problem? What then?

One of the most important things to remember about dealing with persons tangled up in substance abuse is that you can almost guarantee your loved one is unable to make good decisions. If he/she were able to think clearly and rationally while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, then you wouldn’t be facing a problem, would you? If the addict were able to just stop, then he would have already done so.

I don’t mean that drug abusers are eternally afflicted or unable to ever make good choices. This is, after all, what drug rehab is about—returning to the addict his ability to make good choices again. But as the sober onlooker it is your job to know what is right and see to it that the addict gets help. The term rehab specialists use for stepping in to see that a substance abuser gets help before it’s too late, is “intervention.” Occasionally situations like this call for the help of a professional interventionist to ensure results in getting the individual to agree to get help.

Private interventionists are available to help your situation and guide your family through to successful results. Call us today for help finding the right drug intervention for your situation.
