Alcohol and
drug interventions are not always successful during the first attempt. Many times an intervention will draw out a few days, a few weeks and sometimes even months. Most
residential drug rehabs understand that when a drug intervention fails the first time that staying on top of the addict or alcoholic is vital. Throwing in the towel if he or she does not go to treatment right away is the wrong attitude to have. As a team you must not give up and know that these things are never easy. Drug and alcohol addiction requires the ultimate love sometimes is knowing what is best for the person even if it hearts so much doing it. On occasion a family will have to cut off all ties with the addicted individual which includes communication, financial assistance, emotional support, and shelter.
A
long term drug rehab is the most effective form of treatment once the intervention has been successful. Most drug and alcohol rehabs that provide treatment should offer a long term solution like aftercare and job training. During the intervention don’t bring up the cost of the program especially if it’s a
private drug rehab , length of stay, or other details that the addicted individual could use to say that he or she does not want to go.
