Sunday, May 31. 2009Effective Drug Rehab Programs
Over the years there has been an explosion of drug rehabs opening up and using the internet to market their programs. Unfortunately for people searching the internet for help can get confused with all of the different options. There are some very specific things you should look for when searching for an effective drug rehab program.
First, make sure it is a long term drug rehab. Most programs that do not offer at least 60 days is a waste of time and money. A person needs to be separated from their present time environment so that they can be properly rehabilitated and start to change as a person so that the addicted individual will not return to there addicted characteristics. Second, make sure the rehab program is holistic. Traditional drug rehabs usually substitute drugs. What that means is they prescribe drugs and medications to replace the drugs and alcohol a person finds themselves addicted to. This is has no little or no success and usually creates a bigger problem because now they are addicted to another drug. Last but not least is you want to find an inpatient drug rehab. A person who tries to overcome their addiction on an outpatient basis has no chance of recovery. Inpatient is necessary in ensuring a successful recovery for the addicted individual. Wednesday, April 22. 2009Florida Drug Rehabs
Many families in Florida trying to find an inpatient drug rehab can get overwhelmed with all of the different treatment options. Most of the Florida facilities offer some type of 30 day program but many are lacking longer termed care. An effective Florida drug rehab should provide detox, counseling, life skills therapy, cognitive counseling and biophysical treatment. The drug rehabs in Florida that do provide this type of treatment are usually very effective and offer a high success rate.
Recently most of the residential rehabs in Florida also provide some type of holistic treatment. This is the best type of drug rehab because they do not believe in prescribing drugs to a person who is already addicted to drugs and alcohol. Remember, finding long term drug rehabs in Florida is not always easy. Make sure they offer inpatient and residential treatment. Once you know they offer an inpatient facility, then you need to check out the counseling and life skills portion of the program. It is also very important that they offer some type of after care or half way house as a final discharge plan to the treatment program. Tuesday, April 14. 2009Inpatient And Holistic Drug Rehab
Drug rehab programs that offer a longer termed care are more effective than rehabs which only offer 30 day treatment programs. Most treatment facilities which only offer 30 day programs are also traditional 12 step programs with a very low success rate. It’s not to say that these shorter termed programs are not effective or that a person who enrolled into a 12 step program isn’t doing the right thing, just looking at the success rate of long term drug rehabs they offer a better rounded program. Some of the long term drug rehabs even offer a success rate of 80 percent and above in some cases even offering a guarantee on the rehab program.
A long term facility that is an inpatient drug rehab is best way to go when trying to find a drug and alcohol rehab for a loved one or for yourself. Drugs and alcohol don’t pick and choose certain people and families to destroy. They don’t hand select “bad people” who they want to affect. Almost no family in the world today has not been affected at least once or known somebody closely who has lost everything to drug and alcohol addiction. So why do so many people become addicted and why can’t they just quit? Through all of your research in finding an effective program there is some good news. There are programs that are looking to actually cure a person with dependence to drugs and alcohol rather than “treating” it for the rest of their life. These types of programs generally are called a holistic drug rehab. Holistic drug rehabs which offer a biophysical treatment program are usually very effective because they do not believe in replacement drug therapy which means putting a person on a prescribed drug to replace the drug a person is addicted to. Saturday, March 7. 2009Non 12 Step Rehab Program
What is the best type of treatment program available and what makes an effective drug rehab. Over the years most people who found themselves helplessly addicted to drugs and alcohol and then entered a drug rehab program has probably tried what is called traditional treatment or a 12 step program. This is a treatment model that believes addiction is an incurable disease and that relapse is part of recovery. Many of these types of rehabilitation facilities also prescribe replacement drugs like anti-depressants, or other medications to “treat” the addiction. The basic philosophy is that the person is chemically addicted to drugs and what they need to do is replace these chemicals with better, more prescribed chemicals known as prescription drugs. This is called replacement drug therapy and is not only dangerous but one of the worst things that a person can do to overcome addiction.
The most effective type of treatment is called a non 12 step rehab which provides an alternative type of program that focuses on a person being responsible and accountable for his or her addiction. Like many programs out there offering alternative treatment, finding a long term and inpatient facility is always best. An inpatient drug rehab is always more effective than an outpatient program. If your loved one is not willing to get help than remember a drug intervention is probably necessary to help the person realize that not only do they have a problem but the also need help. Wednesday, February 25. 2009Longer Termed Facilities And Intervention
Families who have a loved one who needs help with a drug rehabilitation facility sometimes give up because the addicted individual does not want help. Families will beg for their son or daughter to go to rehab but many times the person struggling with an addiction alcohol or drugs is so fully hooked that they can’t even see the damage they are causing to not only themselves but the people who love them the most. Addiction not only destroys the person who is using but also everyone around them, work, friends, and most importantly family.
If a person is not ready to get help and enter a drug rehab than hiring a professional interventionist is the best thing you can do. Sitting back and saying that he must be ready to get help is like starting to build the coffin. You must understand that a person who already has a drug or alcohol problem does not have the ability to quit let alone make a rational decision. So expecting them to wake up one morning and ask for help is very unreasonable. True love is never giving up and doing whatever it takes to get them into a drug rehab program. Once you have a drug intervention set up then the next step is finding an effective long term drug rehab program to send them. A long term drug rehab is usually the best type of program available. Offering too many types of programs during the intervention will only add confusion so do the research before and settle on one type of facility. Make sure it at least is an inpatient drug rehab. Wednesday, February 18. 2009Effective Long Term Solutions
Is a long term drug rehab the most effective type of drug rehabilitation program available? Well, statistically speaking it is. Specific long term programs that offer biophysical treatment, individualized counseling, cognitive behavioral counseling, and life skills therapy from our research achieve somewhere in the neighborhood of 70-90 percent success rate. Not to mention that some of these programs also offer a guarantee on their treatment facility. Many of these types of program are private pay, they still offer payment plans and sometimes have scholarship money available.
Not sure what type of addiction treatment would be best for a loved one, remember that an inpatient facility is always best. Making someone attend counseling or meetings while living at home is very tough. Friends and family can act as restimulators causing a person to be reminded of and even crave drugs. Once the addicted individual is ready and willing to get help you want to take action and bring him into a facility. Remember not doing anything is the worst thing you can do. If you have a loved one in need of serious help, a long term rehabilitation is the best form of treatment. Even if a person is not willing to get help you should always keep your sights set on that type of program. There is always the option of a drug intervention for person who does not want help. Some people think that drug and alcohol addiction affects homeless or people who do not work and are hardcore criminals. Drug addicts are usually put into a band of people like murderers, rapists, child abusers, and other type of severe criminals. What most people fail to understand is that teachers, doctors, lawyers, fathers, mothers, brothers, sons and daughters have all fall victim to the horrific situation where a person looses control and falls deep into the horrors of addiction. The first way to handle a problem is face it and quit pretending that it does not exist.
Once a person has recognized that there is a problem then finding the proper help is the next step. Many times the person who is having problems with drugs or alcohol does not realize how bad the problem is. In a situation like this generally a drug or alcohol intervention is important in getting the person to accept help. Once the person has accepted it is now time to escort this person into a drug rehab program preferably a long term program. There are many types of treatment settings available so you will probably want to have a program set up before you do the intervention. As soon as the intervention is successful and the person is ready to accept help, they should be heading to the airport with the intervention escort on there way to the drug rehab. Monday, December 29. 2008Connecticut Drug Rehab
Trying to find a Connecticut drug rehab can be tough thing to do. Especially considering all the other types of treatment models that are offered not only in Connecticut but also throughout the US. Generally a drug rehab program should include various phases of treatment like detox, life skills therapy, and cognitive counseling. Just treating the addiction is not enough and all elements should be rehabilitated like the underlying issues. Depression, anxiety, social skills, self esteem, and confidence are key ingredients that should be focused on by a drug rehab.
Most of the long term drug rehabs have higher success rates. Unfortunately facilities located in the Northwest like Connecticut only offer traditional treatment programs like 21,28 or 30 day programs. These shorter termed programs are not long enough and do not provide an addicted individual with a very high success rate like longer termed programs do. A drug rehab in Connecticut should always have a medical staff with 24 hour nurseing and a physician. Certified Chemical Dependency Counselors are also a good thing to have at a drug rehab facility which will help with effective counseling. Just remember that getting a person out of his or her environment is very helpful and therapeutic. Saturday, December 6. 2008New York Drug Rehab
If you are a family living in New York and have a family member with a drug or alcohol problem, trying to find the right program can be tough. Sometimes just getting the person to accept help can be very frustrating and exhausting on the family. A New York drug rehab should not only provide long term care, but individualized counseling and an extensive aftercare program. If a person is not willing to get help then a family may need to do an intervention. Most effective drug rehab facilities will provide a drug or alcohol intervention but if they don’t you can find one on the internet.
Not only is a drug rehab in New York hard to find but also one that provides detox as well. Medical detox is essential for some people who are addicted to certain prescription drugs, alcohol, and opiates. The reason for this is that coming off of these drugs cold turkey can be fatal and cause a person to have a seizure. Don’t forget that as a family you have to make the decision on whether or not your loved one gets the proper type of treatment. Just because the addicted individual is not asking for help does not mean that don’t need help. Don’t wait until its too late, give the greatest gift ever, a gift of life. Saturday, October 25. 2008When Do We Perform An Intervention?
Parents with drug-abusing children often ask themselves, "How long should we wait finding a rehab program?"
The answer is simple. Not long. If you see signs of drug or alcohol abuse, do not wait. Find out what is going on and do not expect that your son or daughter will not need help to get through the addiction. Assume they will need rehab, and find a good drug rehab program. Have it ready for your son or daughter to go into right away for when things (and they most assuredly will) go bad. Most assuredly your son or daughter will try to tell you they can do it on their own and that they don’t need help. The chances of this are slim to none. Remember that drugs and alcohol change a person's personality very rapidly. You can not trust someone who is using drugs or alcohol habitually. Take control of the situation--their life could depend on it. Remember once they agree to get help than make sure they are being escorted into a drug rehab center. Long Term Drug Rehab Programs
Through my personal experiences I have come to a conclusion about short-term vs long-term drug rehab which I feel must be shared so others do not waste time like I did.
My family spent countless hours and dollars on short-term drug rehab programs for my brother’s heroin addiction. We flew him to Mexico to the most expensive and luxurious 30-day program we could find. We tried the free, government-funded programs. We tried both extremes and everything in between before realizing: he needs more time. How long does it take to completely change your way of life when you have become dependent on a substance(s) to get you through the day? Ask any addict who attended a 30 day inpatient drug rehab? It’s possible, but not common. Many try, many fail. We found an individualized program in Oklahoma which he was at for 4-6 months. He successfully completed it and has been sober now for 7 years. I hope this helps you in your search for an effective drug rehab program. Thursday, October 23. 2008Aftercare Treatment
Loved ones who call and wonder what is next after rehab seem to get worried about the results of treatment. Any effective type of drug rehab should offer an extensive aftercare program. When a person enters into a long term treatment center, usually the stay is around four to six months. This is ample time for a person to be rehabilitated but does not guarantee success which is why aftercare is vital. Some programs offer extensive job training or even better have a training program for all graduates. Many times when a person enters into a drug rehab program they start feeling good and they become more responsible.
Instead of their previous behavior where all they were worried about was finding money for their habit and how to satisfy their addiction to drugs and alcohol, now after being properly rehabilitated them want to help. Honestly, the best drug and alcohol counselor is one who has had an addiction problem themselves and understands what it takes to be successful in recovery. They funny thing about addicted individuals is they don’t want to listen to a person who can not relate or is not real. A doctor, nurse, therapist or counselor who has never taken drugs telling a patient in rehab that they “understand” can really frustrate a patient and cause for distrust issues. Many drug and alcohol rehab programs that do offer professional medical care but also counselors who not only have great formal education but also have had experiences with abuse with drugs and alcohol makes for one of the most effective counselors in the rehabilitation field. They can be looked at as a role model and person that offer hope in such a bleak outlook for many. Drug and Alcohol Rehab
How much does a drug rehab facility cost? This is a common question for many people searching to find an alcohol drug treatment center either for themselves or for a loved one. Most of the inpatient drug treatment facilities are either private pay or offer some type of insurance reimbursement. Don’t get frustrated when you insurance company will only pay for a 21 through a 30 day drug rehab. Sometimes what families do is get insurance to pay for part of the program that work out the rest of the payment. Just remember that any effective drug rehab program is going to cost money. It’s worth it and anything that can save a person from drug or alcohol addiction is like giving a person their life back and a fresh start.
Even most effective medical centers will cost money. Though that is one type of treatment that insurance is very good about paying is for medical treatment but keep in mind that a drug rehab center should always follow. Keep in mind that a medical treatment facility is not enough treatment though. All its doing is to allow an addicted individual come off of certain prescription drugs, opiates and alcohol safely. It is not a long term solution and does not provide any sort of solution to addiction except for medical treatment in the first week of rehabilitation. If a person can only afford a detox and does not have insurance to then pay for treatment than trying an outpatient program would then be the best step. Talking to a counselor or attending meetings or getting a sponsor can help a person through rough spots when trying to overcome drug or alcohol addiction. Sunday, September 28. 2008Colorado Drug Interventions
Colorado drug rehab is something that is very important for people seeking treatment. Not to mention Colorado drug treatment is also very important for people who are suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. Sometimes a person is not willing to get help and enter into a drug rehab so in this case an intervention is necessary. Drug and alcohol interventions are very effective when an addicted individual is not ready. Families should not worry if when they approach their loved one about treatment and they say no or don’t seem interested or even deny any usage of drugs or alcohol.
Colorado drug interventions are necessary for a resident of Colorado who’s loved one does not accept help. Whether its friends, families, employees, or maybe a girlfriend or boyfriend, every effort to get that person to rehab who is suffering from their addiction is vital. Many times it’s a matter of life and death for a person to get into an inpatient drug rehab. Never give up and certainly don’t listen to the person who has the addiction problem because they will tell you exactly what you want to hear. Every once in a while a person who has been asked to got to rehab will finally give in. Sometimes a drug and alcohol intervention is not even necessary. As soon as a person agrees to go don’t wait. Book the flights or pack the car and be on your way. If they want to see friends and family don’t let them. Family can visit while they are being treated for the drug addiction or alcoholism. One thing to always remember is never give up. Even though it may seem like they don’t want the help, remember addiction leads to death or jail. Wednesday, September 10. 2008Can Drug or Alcohol Addiction Be Overcome
Why is addiction labeled a disease? Many people think that when a person is addicted to drugs and alcohol that they will be an addict or alcoholic for life. Last time I checked, a disease is something that can usually show up on a blood test, a disease is not something that can be tested by asking questions or is some type of opinion. So why is it so important to say that drug and alcohol addiction is a disease? Money. That’s right, the pharmaceutical industry and rehabilitation industry are profiting at making addiction a disease. If a person is able to overcome his or her addiction to drugs and alcohol then why do then need to feel or be told that they are still an addict or that their disease is in remission.
What we believe is that addiction is a very big problem in society but that something can be done about. We believe that we proper rehabilitation and training that a person can not only overcome his or her problem with drugs but also end up becoming a better person. Ethics, morals, education, communication, health, self-control, self-esteem, spirituality, and a general sense of happiness are all components of a person not going back to drugs and alcohol. So if you a person that finds themselves feeling depressed about that they are addicted to drugs and alcohol, hopefully this will give you inspiration to know that you can overcome it. Finding an effective drug rehab program is the first step but than after that is complete establishing some good goals is also very important. The mind is a wonderful tool and you can do anything or have anything as long as you put your mind to it.
